Vernon Presley's Shelby County Sheriff's Department ID Card - From Sandy Miller

Offered is Vernon Presley's Shelby County Sheriff's Department "Special Deputy" ID card. The card was issued on September 1, 1976, and features Vernon's signature as well as that of Sheriff Gene Barksdale. Vernon's fingerprint is on the reverse, along with his other vital statistics. The ID card was acquired from Sandy Miller, Vernon's companion when he passed away. Her accompanying letter reads "Enclosed is Vernon Presley's Shelby County Sheriff's Department card. This card appointed Vernon as Special Deputy and was issued in September, 1976. You will notice Vernon's thumbprint on the reverse of the card. This card was in Vernon's wallet at the time of his death in 1979. He was very proud of his standing with the sheriff's department." The ID card measures 3 1/4 x 2 1/4 inches and presents with moderate wear. Excellent to Mint condition.
