Offered is Yul Brynner's gold brass and blue leather "Falcon" armour piece worn as Ramses II in the 1956 epic film The Ten Commandments. Brynner wears the sash with his battle armour astride his chariot. Of the two matching sash pieces, this is the one on the top in the photos with its right-looking profile of the falcon--the longer "wing" wrapping behind Brynner.
The armor design was based on concept artwork by Arnold Friberg, the Art Director and Costume Designer. The film's Director, Cecil B. DeMille, recruited Friberg for the film based on the artist's biblical paintings.
Also included is color still showing Brynner in his battle armour costume and original auction documents. (To be honest, Yul is wearing the heck out of this outfit!)
The armour piece measures 9 by 43 inches and is made of leather dyed a slate blue with individual brass sections forming the falcon. A few pieces appear to be missing from the lower body of the bird and its tail section, and the clasps have come unsewn but are still included. Very Good to Excellent condition.
