Offered are two short letters handwritten and signed by legendary author Tennessee Williams. Both were sent to actress Olive Deering in the mid-1970s and have been framed and matted together with their original envelopes and a period photo of Williams. The first was sent on June 25, 1974, and reads " I have assureed Miss Olive Deering tha she shall have sole rights in the United States to perform the femail leads in my plays 'Portrait of a Madonna' and 'I Can't Imagine Tomorrow', for one year from the date of this letter. Sincerely Tennessee Williams." The second missive reads "Dear Olive, 1 Valium & cheque. Cheers, Tenn." The framed display measures 21 x 25 inches. The Hotel Elysee letterhead measures 7 1/4 x 10 1/2 inches, and the Times Square Motor Hotel letterhead measures 6 x 9 1/2 nches. Both letters, and both envelopes, suffer from moderate to heavy staining. Very Good to Excellent condition overall.
